Alba’s ‘Eye’ Gets Shot Again!

It wasn’t long ago that I finally got fed up with the fact that Jessica Alba can’t act to save her life, while it makes for easy review writing it is painful to watch for those two hours she is on screen. Oddly enough, Lionsgate may be feeling the pain resulting from a lack of Alba’s abilities as Fangoria reveals that her latest thriller The Eye is prepping for some reshoots with a brand new director.

The Eye is a remake of a fantastic movie of the same name by the Pang brothers released in 2003. The remake was helmed by David Moreau and Xavier Palud who released the rather well received horror/thriller Ils/Them back in August. However, Moreau and Palund have been unceremoniously bounced from the project and replaced by – the is the real kicker – Patrick Lussier.

Who the hell is Patrick Lussier you ask? Well, this chap helmed Dracula 2000, Dracula II: Ascension, Dracula III: Legacy and White Noise 2: The Light. What? You haven’t seen heard or care about any of those? Shame on you, between those three Dracula features he has a 24% Tomatometer average at RottenTomatoes. That includes a classic 0% rating for Dracula II: Ascension. What studio wouldn’t replace their directors with this guy? I am sure Lussier is going to get the very best from Alba, either that or they are a match made in heaven.

I never thought this film should have been remade considering the original was done so well, especially with Alba in the lead, too much relies on her abilities in this case. The pic is currently slated for the dead zone of February 2008 where films go to die.
