I am still not sure what I think of Maria Bello stepping in for Rachel Weisz in the upcoming Mummy 3. Then again I actually prefer Michael Gambon over Richard Harris in the Harry Potter films, no disrespect to the late Harris of course.
While Bello is currently filming the third film in the Mummy franchise she took some time off to head to the Toronto Film Festival to promote The Jane Austen Book Club sporting her new auburn locks for her role as Evelyn Carnahan, a role she seems to have taken to, but tells the press in Toronto that it won’t be the same Evey.
“She has the same name, but she’s a very different character than Rachel played,” Bello told SCI-FI Wire. “She’s a bad-ass action chick. I had to train a lot. I had to do wushu, a martial-art form, some kickboxing, swordfighting, rifle training for a couple of months before we even started shooting. It’s the role of my dreams. It is just a blast.”
What do you think? Do you like the idea on the new Evey or is it a bad idea to even include the character if Weisz isn’t the one playing her?
