The Weinstein brothers have not had much luck since they parted ways with Disney and created The Weinstein Co. This is not to say they haven’t had some good movies, because they have, they just haven’t had that much luck at the box-office with any of them other than 1408. What do you do if this is the case? Well, for the Weinstein’s they have turned to Nicole Kidman and Ralph Fiennes.
Kidman and Fiennes are set to star in the love story The Reader based on the bestselling novel by German writer Bernhard Schlink. The story is set in contemporary Germany, where a man recounts the story of his erotic awakening in a covert love affair with an older woman in the wake of WWII.
Stephen Daldry who directed Kidman in the Oscar-winning drama The Hours
is set to helm the feature from a script by David Hare who actually adapted The Hours.
Shooting begins in Berlin late September.
