Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu made a strong impact on premium video-on-demand, despite being a box office bomb. The big-screen adaptation of the hit Disney+ TV show The Mandalorian arrived in theaters two months ago but failed to resonate with the majority of moviegoers.
In a major update, it’s been revealed that The Mandalorian and Grogu movie debuted at the number one spot on Fandango’s premium video-on-demand chart for the week from July 20 to July 26, 2026.
Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu managed to outperform other recently released movies, including Disclosure Day, Scary Movie (2026) – Extended Cut, Backrooms, Mortal Kombat II, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and Obsession.

The plot of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu follows the adventures of legendary bounty hunter Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal, and his young apprentice Baby Yoda.
Although the Empire has fallen, the Imperial warlords are still out there, spread throughout the galaxy. To fight against them, the New Republic takes the help of the Mandalorian and Grogu.
Jon Favreau directed the film and co-wrote the screenplay of the movie, in collaboration with Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor. The cast also includes Sigourney Weaver, Jeremy Allen White, Steve Blum, and Jonny Coyne, among others. Ludwig Göransson composed the film’s score.
The movie is produced by Favreau, Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Ian Bryce. Last week, The Mandalorian and Grogu made their digital debut on July 21, 2026. It will soon arrive on 4K UHD and Blu-ray on August 25, 2026.
During its original run in theaters, it could only make about $345 million globally, against a budget of $165 million.
It also received mixed reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, it currently holds an average Tomatometer score of 60%. However, audiences responded more positively, as reflected by its 87% Popcornmeter score.
