Matt Damon‘s physical transformation for his leading role in The Odyssey has received a glowing review from co-star Charlize Theron. In the movie, Theron portrays Calypso and has scenes exclusively with Damon.
Charlize Theron says Matt Damon looks ‘amazing’ after his Odyssey transformation
During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Theron showered Damon with massive praise for the transformation he underwent to play Odysseus. When the interviewer brought up Damon’s physique for the movie, Theron responded, “Have you seen him? I’ve seen him without all that suit on. It’s incredible.”
The Oscar-winner added, “I’m like staring at him weirdly. I’m looking at his a— right now. I shouldn’t do that. That’s just wrong.”
Theron also reflected on working with Christopher Nolan and commended his ability to cast movies with such an array of stars. The Odyssey marks her first collaboration with the Oscar-winning director. She further revealed that she hadn’t yet seen the movie and would watch it that night for the first time. “But I’m excited,” she said. When the interviewer informed her that the movie was epic, she responded, “Yay, I can’t wait.” She added that it was “refreshing” not having to do fight sequences for her role in the movie.
When asked in a separate interview about her favorite Christopher Nolan movie, Theron revealed that the director’s thriller Memento was special to her because what Carrie-Anne Moss’ character Natalie wore in that movie came from her own closet.
Notably, before The Odyssey, Damon and Theron starred together in the sports fantasy drama film The Legend of Bagger Vance, which also stars Will Smith. Robert Redford directed the movie from a script by Jeremy Leven, who developed it from Steven Pressfield’s 1995 book, The Legend of Bagger Vance: A Novel of Golf and the Game of Life.
The Odyssey is currently in theaters.
