One Piece Netflix Special With Live-Action Cast Returning Sets Release Date

Lego One Piece animated special is coming back to Netflix. Latest updates suggest the animated special will also feature the live-action cast reprising their iconic roles.

When is the release date for the One Piece Netflix special?

The live-action One Piece is all set to release on Netflix on September 29, 2026. The streaming platform also unveiled the cast following the announcement. Jeff Ward will return to lend his voice to Buggy the Clown.

Alongside Ward, two of the most-hyped names joining the franchise for the first time are Callum Kerr (Captain Smoker) and Katey Sagal (Dr. Kureha). Netflix has further confirmed that Charithra Chandran will voice two roles, Nefertari Vivi and Wednesday, in the animated special.

Netflix’s official synopsis states that the story will revolve around Usopp as the narrator. In the two-part animated series from Lego, Usopp will be recounting the Straw Hat crew’s adventures across the East Blue. The movie’s events take place just before Chopper becomes a part of the crew on Drum Island.

Netflix’s recently released trailer also provides a sneak peek into Usopp’s personality. It shows how he cites himself as the ultimate hero, which is not true. Thus, Usopp’s version of the story cannot be taken at face value. As the trailer plays, fans also get to see a LEGO Dracule Mihawk.

Directed by Chelsea Kerr, the special also has One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda as the Executive Producer. Assisting Eiichiro in production are Keith Malone and Jill Willfert (LEGO), Becky Clements and Marty Adelstein (Tomorrow Studios), who will also be part of the project. Netflix has also released a slick poster for the movie. It features the Straw Hat Jolly Roger skull in a brick-built version. The movie is written by Tom Hyndman.
