The highly rumored DCU Batman actor has finally spoken out amid growing speculation. The actor began making major headlines late last month as fans eagerly debated who would inherit the cape and cowl.
What is the update on the DCU’s Batman casting?
Tom Brittney, who has been at the center of rumours to play the Dark Knight in the upcoming DCU film The Brave and the Bold, finally addressed the question on everyone’s mind. While appearing on FOX5’s Good Day New York to promote his series The Westies, he was asked about the Batman speculations.
Instead of giving a clear reply, however, Brittney simply dodged the question. “No comment. I know nothing. Just lovely wonderful rumors.” Interestingly, the actor chose neither to confirm nor deny the reports.
So far, DC Studios and James Gunn have not officially confirmed a name for DCU’s Batman. This character will exist in a separate continuity from Robert Pattinson‘s version in The Batman universe.
Last month, YouTuber John Campea made waves online when he said he knew who was cast as DCU’s Batman in The Brave and the Bold movie. “I’m not going to say it right now, but I will say this. It’s not a name I would have guessed.”
However,just a few days later, Campea backtracked on his claim. “I’m a f****** nobody,” he said. “I don’t know a 100%…. I’m not in the room.” While he mentioned he might still host a show dedicated solely to the Batman casting, he quickly advised fans not to view his previous comments as confirmation.
It’s quite interesting to note Brittney’s name circling around Batman at the moment, especially given his past connection with Superman. He previously came incredibly close to playing the Man of Steel in 2025’s Superman, a role that eventually went to David Corenswet.
Brittney had previously auditioned for the iconic superhero, but James Gunn chose to go with Corenswet. However, he did admire Brittney, saying, “That guy is a great f—— actor!”
While The Westies star has denied rumors for now, the buzz surrounding his name is unlikely to slow down until DC Studios makes an official announcement.
