Arnold Schwarzenegger’s upcoming Amazon MGM action film just added a Yellowstone fan favorite to its growing cast. The Kellys continues to build momentum with another major signing as production rolls on.
Kelsey Asbille joins The Kellys
Yellowstone star Kelsey Asbille will join Arnold Schwarzenegger and Liam Hemsworth in The Kellys, Deadline reports. Amazon MGM acquired worldwide rights to the Thunder Road action film for streaming. The movie will release exclusively on Prime Video.
Director Brad Peyton co-wrote the script with Tze Chun for the project. The film follows Jack Kelly, a disgraced NYC cop facing a dire situation. Terrorists take his wife, Molly, hostage inside an old armory building. He must then team up with the people he fears most to rescue her: his family. Production is currently underway, though Asbille’s character details remain under wraps.
Meanwhile, Asbille rose to fame as Monica Dutton on Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone alongside Kevin Costner. Sheridan originally wrote the role for her after directing her in Wind River. She recently led Netflix and Sam Raimi’s horror thriller Don’t Move to major success. The film held Netflix’s top spot for two consecutive weeks with over 48 million viewers globally. Additionally, she appears opposite Chris Rock and Timothy Olyphant in Fargo Season 4.
Peyton previously directed Dwayne Johnson vehicles Rampage and San Andreas, along with Netflix’s Atlas. His films have collectively grossed over $1 billion at the worldwide box office. Furthermore, Schwarzenegger reunites with Amazon MGM after starring in the upcoming Christmas film The Man with the Bag. The action icon also has King Conan in development at 20th Century Studios from Christopher McQuarrie.
On the other hand, Hemsworth most recently starred as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher, replacing Henry Cavill. He also appeared in Susannah Grant’s romantic drama Lonely Planet. CAA Media Finance brokered the deal between Thunder Road and Amazon MGM for the project.
