You Gotta Believe Release Date Set for Luke Wilson’s Baseball Drama Movie

According to Deadline, Well Go USA Entertainment has officially set the release date for the upcoming coming-of-age sports drama titled You Gotta Believe, which will be led by Luke Wilson and Greg Kinnear. This comes after Well Go USA had just acquired the North American theatrical distribution rights to the movie.

You Gotta Believe is now scheduled to hit the theaters later this year on August 30. The film will be debuting in the same month as high-profile movies like Borderlands, Trap, Alien: Romulus, Blink Twice and The Crow reboot.

“You Gotta Believe tells the heartwarming story of a group of young boys who, after a teammate’s father is diagnosed with terminal cancer, really banded together and learned to play the game they loved for a cause much greater than themselves,” Well Go USA boss Doris Pfardrescher said in a statement. “As a Texas-based distributor, the hometown ties make this film even more special for us, as does the support of the Little League World Series and of John and Robert Ratliff, sons of Bobby Ratliff, who underwent cancer treatment during the LLWS run.”

What is You Gotta Believe about?

“Based on a true story, the film will center around an overlooked Fort Worth youth baseball team that dedicated its season to a teammate’s ailing father and subsequently took its Cinderella season all the way to the 2002 Little League World Series,” reads the synopsis.

You Gotta Believe is directed by Ty Roberts, who previously collaborated with Wilson on sports film 12 Mighty Orphans in 2021. The film also stars Sarah Gadon (Ferrari), Etienne Kellici (Horizon: An American Saga), Molly Parker (Deadwood), Patrick Renna (The Sandlot) and newcomer Michael Cash. It is produced by Matt Harvey, Pasha Patriki and Byron Campbell, with Ty Roberts, Greg McCabe, Allen Gilmer, George M. Young Jr., Wes W. Williams, Marlon Volgesgang, Charles Dorfman, Doris Pfardrescher and Tony Vanderveerdonk set as executive producers.
