Close to You Release Date Set for Elliot Page-Led Drama

The Close to You release date for the upcoming Elliot Page and Hillary Baack-led drama movie has been revealed.

The film, which was an official selection at the Toronto International Film Festival, will release in theaters nationwide on Friday, August 16. It was written and directed by Dominic Savage from a story by Savage and Elliot Page.

Close to You was produced by Krishnendu Majumdar, Richard Yee, Daniel Bekerman, Chris Yurkovich, Dominic Savage, and Elliot Page and executive produced by Anita Gou, Sam Intili, Nia Vazirani, Francine Maisler, Matt Jordan Smith, and Andrew Frank. The movie has a runtime of 100 minutes, or one hour and 40 minutes.

“Sam (Elliot Page) hasn’t been home since his transition,” reads the film‘s synopsis. “After four years in Toronto, he takes a long-dreaded trip back to his hometown for his father’s birthday. Once there, he confronts unresolved wounds and reconnects with an old flame.”

What else is Elliot Page starring in this year?

Page will return to the role of Viktor Hargreeves for the final season of the Netflix series The Umbrella Academy, which is set to release on the streaming platform on Thursday, August 8, 2024. Starring alongside Page are Tom Hopper, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, David Castañeda, Aidan Gallagher, Justine H. Min, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore. The new season will also add David Cross, Nick Offerman, and Megan Mullally to the cast.
