Christopher Landon to Direct White Lotus’ Meghann Fahy in New Thriller Drop

Christopher Landon has been tapped to direct The White Lotus’ Meghann Fahy in a new thriller, Drop, for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes.

Per Deadline, Landon and Fahy have both signed on to Drop, which is said to be a “fast-paced” thriller. Further plot details remain under wraps at this time, while a production start date and additional casting have not yet been announced.

The script for Drop was written by Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach. Michael Bay, Jason Blum, Brad Fuller, and Cameron Fuller will produce the movie, while Sam Lerner will serve as an executive producer.

Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes have collaborated together on The Purge franchise. The movie will be distributed by Universal.

What movies has Christopher Landon previously made?

Landon is known for directing 2014’s Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, 2015’s Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, 2017’s Happy Death Day, 2019’s Happy Death Day 2U, 2020’s Freaky, and 2023’s We Have a Ghost. He was also attached to direct Scream 7 but stepped away shortly after Melissa Barrera was fired from the film.

He also worked on the scripts for a number of other Paranormal Activity movies, including 2010’s Paranormal Activity 2, 2011’s Paranormal Activity 3, 2012’s Paranormal Activity 4, and 2021’s Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin.

Fahy, meanwhile, is best known for playing Daphne Sullivan in the second season of HBO’s The White Lotus. She’s also appeared in episodes of One Life to Live, The Good Wife, Necessary Roughness, Chicago Fire, Blue Bloods, The Bold Type, and more. 

She’ll soon be seen alongside Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, and Dakota Fanning in The Perfect Couple, an upcoming Netflix television series adapted from the 2018 novel of the same name by Elin Hilderbrand.

Drop does not yet have an official release date.
