Naughty: Olivia Wilde to Helm Christmas Comedy With Margot Robbie to Produce

According to Deadline, actress-turned-filmmaker Olivia Wilde has signed on to helm an upcoming Christmas comedy titled Naughty, with Oscar nominee Margot Robbie attached to produce through her LuckyChap banner.

This marks Wilde’s return to the comedy genre after directing last year’s psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling. She is also best known for her feature directorial debut film Booksmart, which currently holds a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 388 reviews. Besides Naughty, Wilde is also working on directorial projects including the Kerri Strug biopic Perfect and Sony’s untitled female-led movie set within the Spider-Man Universe. It’s remains unclear if both movies are still moving forward.

What to expect in Naughty?

Naughty will be directed by Wilde from a screenplay written by Cocaine Bear writer Jimmy Warden. The project is being described as Bridesmaids in the North Pole. Besides Robbie, LuckyChap’s Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara are also serving as producers. 2023 has been a big year for LuckyChap, thanks to the backt-to-back critical successes of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn.

“The film follows Mallory whose only hope of securing custody of her son from her gaslighting trashbag ex is to find Santa Claus in the North Pole and convince him to testify in her divorce hearing,” reads the synopsis.
