Matt Damon Reveals Oppenheimer Runtime, Praises Christopher Nolan’s New Movie

Anticipation for Christopher Nolan’s next film, Oppenheimer, is high, and ahead of its premiere later this year, star Matt Damon has revealed just how long the film is set to be.

Damon — who stars in the film as director of the Manhattan Project Leslie Groves — recently spoke with Variety about the upcoming film. Alongside some praise of what to expect, Damon also revealed that the runtime of the film was about three hours long.

“It’s three hours. It’s fantastic,” Damon said, before talking about his co-star Cillian Murphy, who he also praised. “Cillian is phenomenal. He’s everything you would want him to be. I think it’s almost three hours. It goes so fast, it’s great.”

Oppenheimer stars Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders), Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow), Robert Downey Jr. (Avengers: Endgame), Matt Damon (Good Will Hunting), Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody), Florence Pugh (Midsommar), Josh Hartnett (Pearl Harbor), Benny Safdie (Good Time), Dane DeHaan (Chronicle), Jack Quaid (The Boys), Dylan Arnold (You Season 3), and more.

The film is written and directed by Christopher Nolan, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin.

Oppenheimer will be distributed theatrically worldwide by Universal Pictures. Nolan and Emma Thomas are producing through their Syncopy banner, along with Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven.
