Boy Band: Ryan Reynolds to Star In & Produce Comedy Movie

Ryan Reynolds is set to star in and produce the upcoming comedy movie Boy Band at Paramount, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Along with starring and producing duties, Reynolds also co-wrote the project alongside Jesse Andrews (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, Luca), with the story originating from Reynolds. As of right now, details on the film’s plot are being kept under wraps, but early reports describe the film as “a boy band reunion movie.”

Filmmaker Shawn Levy will also be involved with the film in a production capacity, and will potentially direct the film. However, THR did note that Levy directing the film would be determined by his schedule. Levy and Reynolds are no strangers to working together recently, with Levy having directed Reynolds in 2021’s Free Guy, 2022’s The Adam Project, and the upcoming Marvel Studios film Deadpool 3.

Reynolds’ role in the film is unknown as of now, but the report does mention that he hopes to begin filming the project soon, with a fall 2023 or early 2024 release in mind.

Reynolds had a busy 2022, having starred in The Adam Project, a brief cameo in the 2022 action film Bullet Train, and starring in the holiday musical comedy Spirited. Up next for the star is working on Deadpool 3, as well as 2024’s fantasy comedy film IF, which stars Reynolds, John Krasinski, Steve Carrell, Cailey Fleming, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and more.
