Originally created by author A.A. Milne and illustrator E.H. Shephard, Winnie the Pooh recently saw its copyright expire in 2021, with the rights to the characters no longer being held by Disney and entering the public domain. It was then that director Rhys Frake-Waterfield decided to make the film, although due to the huge boost in press and general excitement, the crew behind the film has been trying to expedite the editing process.

“Because of all the press and stuff, we’re just going to start expediting the edit and getting it through post-production as fast as we can,” said Waterfield in an interview with Variety. “But also, making sure it’s still good. It’s going to be a high priority.”

Not too much is known about Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, but Waterfield has said that both Pooh and Piglet will be the main villains of the film, and will see both characters going on a “rampage” after being abandoned by a college-aged Christopher Robin. “Christopher Robin is pulled away from them, and he’s not [given] them food, it’s made Pooh and Piglet’s life quite difficult,” Waterfield said.
