Robbie will star and produce a new Ocean’s movie that will be directed by Jay Roach, the same director who worked with Robbie on the 2019 drama Bombshell, which earned Robbie a best-supporting actress Oscar nomination. The film will also see Tom Acklery join as producer, with Roach also getting a producer and executive producer credit.

The film’s script will be written by Carrie Solomon, and will reportedly be a prequel film set in Europe in the 1960s, although further details are being kept quiet as of now. However, as is the case with any Ocean’s film, fans can expect a couple of heists, some betrayals, and a lot of twists and turns along the way. The report notes that the film is in active development and hasn’t been officially greenlit, but the goal is to begin production in spring 2023.

Based on the 1960 Rat Pack film, the first Ocean’s Eleven was a massive hit when it premiered in 2001 and was quickly followed up by two sequels, the total of which grossed more than $1 billion at the box office. Most recently, a spin-off film, Ocean’s 8, was released in 2018 and featured an all-female cast led by Sandra Bullock. That film was also a success at the box office, earning more than $297 million at the box office and earning generally positive reviews from critics and fans alike.
