Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg Eye Daddy’s Home

Although Vince Vaughn was being eyed to headline the project opposite Will Ferrell last year, Deadline today reports that Paramount Pictures’ Daddy’s Home is now looking to re-team Ferrell with his The Other Guys costar Mark Wahlberg. Although Etan Cohen was formerly planning to direct, the outlet notes that Sean Anders and John Morris are now in talks to helm.

The film, written by Brian Burns and Adam McKay & Chris Henchy and Cohen, is the story of a mild-mannered radio executive (Ferrell) who strives to become the best stepdad ever to his wife’s two children, but complications ensue when their freewheeling, freeloading real father (Wahlberg) arrives, forcing stepdad to compete for the affection of the kids.

Ferrell and McKay will produce through Gary Sanchez Productions, along with Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane through Good Universe, whose Matt Leonetti and Spencer Wong will co-produce. Gary Sanchez’s Henchy and Jessica Elbaum will executive produce.

Daddy’s Home is planning to shoot this fall.
