Emmy winner Tiffany Haddish (Bad Trip, SNL, The Card Counter) and Oscar nominee LaKeith Stanfield (Judas and the Black Messiah, Knives Out, The Harder They Fall) are in talks to join Disney’s spooky family adventure feature Haunted Mansion, based on the iconic theme park attraction (via The Hollywood Reporter). The movie is being helmed by Justin Simien (Dear White People, Bad Hair, Disney+’s Star Wars: Lando).

Haunted Mansion will follow a family that moves into the titular mansion. Stanfield would reportedly play a widower who once believed in the supernatural but is now a rather lifeless tour guide in New Orleans’s French Quarter. Haddish would portray a psychic hired to commune with the dead.

Simien will direct from a screenplay written by Katie Dippold (The Heat, Ghostbusters, Parks and Recreation). The project is expected to begin production in Louisiana this fall. It follows in the footsteps of Jungle Cruise, opening this Friday, as being the next Disney theme park ride to be adapted into a film. The new film is not connected to the 2003 feature starring Eddie Murphy and directed by Rob Minkoff.

Haunted Mansion is being produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich of Rideback. Rideback’s Nick Reynolds will serve as executive producer.
