As production officially begins on Indiana Jones 5, the first behind-the-scenes photos from the UK set of Lucasfilm’s long-awaited fifth and final installment have finally surfaced online (vial Daily Mail). The first Indiana Jones 5 set photos, which you can check out below, featured a stuntman wearing a young Harrison Ford mask while riding a motorcycle. The stuntman is also seen wearing a Nazi uniform, which looks similar to what Ford wore in 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark, hinting the upcoming film’s intention to de-age the acclaimed actor for potential flashback scenes.
Indiana Jones 5 sees the return of Harrison Ford as he reprises one of his most iconic roles as the titular explorer. It will be directed by Oscar nominee James Mangold (Logan) from a new screenplay he is co-writing with Ford v Ferrari collaborators Jez and John-Henry Butterworth. Mangold stepped up to take over the director’s chair after Steve Spielberg had announced last year that he would be exiting his directorial duties for the film. The Oscar-winning filmmaker was the one who directed all of the previous Indiana Jones films. Despite this, he will still remain part of the film’s production as a producer.
The final installment will also be led by Emmy and Golden Globe winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who is set as the female lead opposite Ford. It will also feature the introduction o franchise newcomers Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, and Shaunette Renée Wilson, who have been cast in undisclosed roles.
The project will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy, original franchise director Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel, with John Williams returning to score the film, continuing a musical journey that began 40 years ago with Raiders of the Lost Ark.
The untitled Indiana Jones 5 is currently scheduled to be released on July 29, 2022.
