Lady Gaga shares first look of House of Gucci with Adam Driver
As production continues on House of Gucci in Italy, Grammy winner and Oscar nominee Lady Gaga took to Twitter to reveal the first photo from Ridley Scott’s upcoming true crime drama film with co-star Adam Driver (Marriage Story) as Patrizia Reggiani and Maurizio Gucci, which can be viewed below!
Joining Lady Gaga and Driver are Oscar winners Al Pacino and Jared Leto along with Jeremy Irons, Jack Huston, Reeve Carney and Camille Cottin. This marks Driver’s second collaboration with Scott after wrapping up production on 20th Century Studios’ The Last Duel.
Roberto Bentivegna’s script is based on Sara Gay Forden’s 2001 novel The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed that used the murder to delve into the complex yet dishy family history, filled with infighting, corporate intrigue and gobs of money. Gucci, the grandson of Guccio Gucci, ran the company in a declining period in the 1980s after wrestling it out of his uncle’s hands.
Coming off from the critical success of 2018’s A Star Is Born which earned her an Oscar for Best Original Song and an Oscar nomination for Best Actress, Lady Gaga is attached to portray the role of Maurizio Gucci’s ex-wife and mother of his two daughters, Patrizia Reggiani, who was tried and convicted for orchestrating her ex-husband’s murder on the steps of his office in 1995. Despite her children’s pleas to the court and public to reevaluate her mother’s case as the operation drastically changed her behavior, she was portrayed darkly in the media, being dubbed the Black Widow and was sentenced to 29 years before being let out early in 2016 after only 18 years.
The film will be produced by Ridley and Giannina Scott through their Scott Free Productions banner, with Kevin Walsh also on board the project as a producer.
MGM has set Gucci‘s release date for November 24, 2021.
