Edward Furlong Talks John Connor’s Role in Terminator: Dark Fate

Edward Furlong Opens Up About John Connor’s Role in Terminator: Dark Fate

Were you disappointed with John Connor’s minor role in Terminator: Dark Fate? Well, you’re not a lone. As it turns out, Edward Furlong, who played the character in the 1991 blockbuster Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and appeared briefly (albeit behind a heavy coat of CGI) in Dark Fate, wasn’t too keen on his bit part either, as revealed in an interview with the actor on Youtube. Check out the interview below! SPOILERS BEWARE!

Terminator: Dark Fate landed in theaters with a thud as audiences have clearly grown tired of the series, despite the presence of James Cameron (who served as producer). Or, it could be that few were interested in seeing a Terminator film sans John Connor, leader of the future resistance, who, in a rather cruel twist of fate, meets a grisly end in the new film’s opening sequence. Apparently, Skynet had sent several terminators back in time during the events of T2, one of which finally caught up with John and Sarah and fulfilled its mission objective to kill the future leader of the resistance.

Well, Furlong was none too happy with his brief appearance, stating: “They smoked my ass! That was the role. I shot for one day. And, yeah, we did some CGI. They paid me. So, I mean, ya know. It kinda bums me out. Cause I’d love to do a whole one and make a shit-ton of money. I would love to do more, but we’ll see what happens.”

At this point, who knows where the franchise is headed. Dark Fate likewise met a grisly end at the box office and perhaps terminated the franchise for good.

More than two decades have passed since Sarah Connor prevented Judgment Day, changed the future, and re-wrote the fate of the human race. Dani Ramos (Natalia Reyes) is living a simple life in Mexico City with her brother (Diego Boneta) and father when a highly advanced and deadly new Terminator – a Rev-9 (Gabriel Luna) – travels back through time to hunt and kill her. Dani’s survival depends on her joining forces with two warriors: Grace (Mackenzie Davis), an enhanced super-soldier from the future, and a battle-hardened Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). As the Rev-9 ruthlessly destroys everything and everyone in its path on the hunt for Dani, the three are led to a T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) from Sarah’s past that may be their last best hope.

Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger return in their iconic roles as Sarah Connor and T-800 in Dark Fate with James Cameron, also returning as a producer and co-writer. They’re joined by Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner 2049), Natalia Reyes (Birds of Passage), Gabriel Luna (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Diego Boneta in the film with Tim Miller (Deadpool) behind the camera.
