Iron Man 3 Crosses $1 Billion Worldwide, $300 Million Domestically

Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 crossed the $1 billion threshold at the global box office on May 16, in 23 days of global release. This is the second Marvel Studios film and the sixth Walt Disney Studios release to reach this milestone (Disney’s other billion-dollar films are Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Alice in Wonderland, Toy Story 3, and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Marvel’s The Avengers.)

In addition, Iron Man 3 crossed the $300 million threshold at the domestic box office on May 16, its 14th day of release. It is the 9th Disney release to reach this milestone. So far, the film has earned $301.9 million at the domestic box office and $698.9 million overseas for a worldwide total of $1,000.8 million.

Iron Man 3 is the fourth-highest grossing superhero movie of all time and the #16 highest-grossing film of all-time globally. The film is also now the second-highest grossing superhero movie of all time and the #11 highest-grossing film of all time in the international marketplace. It is the highest grossing film of all time in territories including Vietnam and Malaysia.
