Bryan Singer Reveals a Beastly Behind the Scenes Shot From X-Men: Days of Future Past

Continuing his ongoing behind-the-scenes look at the pre-production of X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer has revealed a new extreme close-up of Mama McCoy’s bouncing baby boy. Beneath that furry blue makeup is Nicholas Hoult, reprising his role from X-Men: First Class.

Singer also includes a quote from Jeanne Marie Le Prince de Beaumont’s original “Beauty and the Beast” that reads, “Many a monster wears the form of a man; it is better of the two to have the heart of a man & the form of a monster.”

The Marvel Comics mutant ensemble’s enormous cast also includes Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing and Boo Boo Stewart.

Based on the comic book storyline “Days of Future Past,” which ran in Uncanny X-Men #141 and 142 back in 1981 during Chris Claremont and John Byrne’s run and introduced the idea of an alternate future for Marvel’s mutants that grew out of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants killing an important senator, leading to a future where all mutants are hunted by Sentinels.

X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theaters July 18, 2014.
