Per the report, the story follows Cast, a young public defender who begins to question everything after he loses a case. The novel “explores the American criminal justice system,” and served as the debut novel for De La Pava, who has gone on to write “Personae,” “Lost Empress,” and the article “A Day’s Sail.”
