John Boyega & Letitia Wright to Lead Mike Cahill’s Hold Back the Stars

Deadline reports that Star Wars actor John Boyega and Black Panther breakout star Letitia Wright have been cast in the lead roles in director Mike Cahill’s Hold Back the Stars. The film is based on author Katie Khan’s sci-fi romance novel of the same name.

Hold Back the Stars is described as a story that centers around a man and a woman who revisit memories of their love affair on a utopian Earth while they are trapped in the vast void of space with only 90 minutes of oxygen left. The book was published in 2017. Christy Hall is set to pen the adaptation with Shawn Levy to produce through his 21 Laps banner.

Boyega and Wright are two of Hollywood’s rising young talents. They are both part of big blockbuster films which had earned them worldwide recognition. Boyega is known for his role as Finn in the Star Wars film franchise. He first appeared in the 2015 The Force Awakens and is set to return in JJ Abrams’ upcoming Star Wars Episode IX.  He was last seen earlier this year in Universal Pictures’ action sequel Pacifim Rim: Uprising opposite Scott Eastwood and Charlie Day.

Wright is best known for her role as Princess Shuri in Marvel Studios’ groundbreaking film Black Panther starring alongside Chadwick Boseman (17 Bridges), Lupita Nyong’o (Us), Michael B. Jordan (Creed II), Danai Gurira (Godzilla vs. Kong) and Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out). She will next be seen in John Legend’s upcoming dramedy remake, Le Brio and in the Russo Brother’s highly anticipated Avengers 4 which is set premiere on May 3, 2019.
