CS sits down with director Jon Hillcoat and his ensemble Triple 9 cast
Hitting theaters this Friday is Open Road Films‘s ensemble thriller, Triple 9. The film represents the latest from director Jon Hillcoat, whose past features have included The Road, Lawless and The Proposition. Hillcoat’s impressive Triple 9 cast includes Chiwetel Ejiofor (The Martian, Doctor Strange), Aaron Paul (Need for Speed, Breaking Bad), Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies, Point Break), Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead, The Boondock Saints) and Anthony Mackie (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Pain & Gain), all of whom sat down with ComingSoon.net (and, strangely enough, with a pair of adorable puppies) to chat about the roles they play, what their characters have at stake, the reality of the crime world in major cities and how it all comes together in the gritty crime feature.
Triple 9 centers around a gang of criminals who try to pull off an unbelievable heist in Atlanta, Georgia by staging a “Triple 9,” otherwise known as “officer down” in order to get all police units in one place to serve as a distraction while the team makes their hit.
The Triple 9 cast also includes Woody Harrelson (The Hunger Games, Zombieland), Kate Winslet (Steve Jobs, The Reader), Casey Affleck (Interstellar, Out of the Furnace) and Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 6, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice).
Based on a screenplay by Matt Cook, Triple 9 will be released by Open Road Films domestically on February 26, 2016.
