Hotel Transylvania 5 Cast: Which Stars Could Return & Are Not Returning

Recently, Sony Animation and Amazon MGM Studios announced the upcoming release of The Haunting of Hotel Transylvania, which serves as the fifth installment of the beloved animated franchise. Ahead of its October 8, 2027, theatrical release, the Hotel Transylvania 5 cast has only one confirmed returning star so far. Earlier this year, Keegan-Michael Key was the one who confirmed the project’s development, teasing his return as Murray the Mummy. The Wonka star took over the role from CeeLo Green in the franchise’s last three installments.

“In the new sequel, Drac has happily settled into retirement while Mavis takes the reins of the legendary monster hotel. But when a series of spooky and unexplained happenings sends chills through the resort, the Drac Pack embarks on its most spellbinding adventure yet: uncovering the mystery behind the haunting of Hotel Transylvania,” reads the initial synopsis.

Expected Hotel Transylvania 5 cast

Even though the studio hasn’t officially confirmed which cast members are returning for The Haunting of Hotel Transylvania, Emmy nominee Selena Gomez and Golden Globe winner Andy Samberg are expected to reprise their respective roles as Mavis and Johnny. The new sequel will see the married couple fully taking over the hotel operations after Drac has retired.

Since Key is returning, David Spade, Steve Buscemi, Fran Drescher, and Molly Shannon are also most likely set to return as the voices of Griffin the Invisible Man, Wayne the Werewolf, Frankenstein’s Wife Eunice, and Wayne’s wife Wanda, respectively. Together with Gomez and Samberg, they are the only cast members of the franchise who weren’t absent from all the previous installments. However, it’s best to note the studio has yet to confirm any of the returning cast members’ involvement. This means there’s a chance some of them might also decide to exit the franchise, just as Adam Sandler and Kevin James had done before.

Who isn’t returning for Hotel Transylvania 5?

Due to their absence from 2022’s Hotel Transylvania: Transformia, it’s most likely Adam Sandler and Kevin James won’t be able to reprise their fan-favorite roles as Drac and Frankenstein in Hotel Transylvania 5. The reason for their surprising exits from the franchise was reportedly due to scheduling conflicts. They were replaced by voice actors Brian Hull and Brad Abrell in the 2022 sequel. At the moment, it’s still unclear if the studio will enlist Hull and Abrell once again to voice Drac and Frankenstein, respectively.
