Vin Diesel and Katee Sackhoff on Riddick’s Return to the Screen!

Over ten years ago, a sci-fi creature feature called Pitch Black snuck up on everyone and offered a refreshing, clever take on the genre and introduced the world to a new antihero: Richard B. Riddick, played by Vin Diesel. The character returned in the adventure flick The Chronicles of Riddick in 2004 which found him swept up in a much larger story and, by the end, ruling an undead army.

Riddick, opening this Friday, decidedly returns to the series’ roots for the third entry, finding Riddick stranded on a planet and battling its various inhabitants as well as two groups of bounty hunters.

We sat down with Diesel, who returns to star and produce the film, and co-star Katee Sackhoff to discuss the new shades of Riddick’s personality seen in the film, why the character has endured, Diesel’s creative involvement when he’s not in front of the camera and, of course, about the monsters on display.
