The 8 Show has been receiving a lot of acclamation from viewers since its release on May 17, 2024, on Netflix. Starring Ryu Jun-Yeol and Chun Woo-Hee, among others, it is a dark comedy thriller K-drama. It centers around eight individuals participating in a simple yet dangerous game. Post the series’ success, viewers have been quite curious to learn whether there will be The 8 Show season 2 or not.
Although Netflix has not made any official announcements about it, there is scope for a second season. The series is an adaptation of Bae Jin-Soo’s webtoon Money Game and its sequel webtoon, Pie Game. However, there is another sequel webtoon by Bae Jin-Soo, set in the same universe, titled Funny Game. As the protagonist of Funny Game’s storyline is directly connected to the prequels, Money Game and Pie Game, there may be a season 2 of the Netflix K-drama.

The story of Funny Game is directly connected to these two webtoons. In the webtoon, the protagonist, who has failed in both the Money Game and Pie Game, returns to win the Funny Game. The protagonist gets proper training to gain physical and mental strength. Due to the protagonist’s previous knowledge and experience, he turns out to be quite dangerous and devil-like to win the Funny Game.
At the end of Netflix’s The 8 Show, the participants end the game and part ways. Some of them reunite very briefly and then go back to their individual lives without exchanging any information about one another. One of them passes away tragically right after the game ends. Meanwhile, the series also reveals that one of them gets arrested after the game’s conclusion.
The first season of The 8 Show has taken inspiration from the first two webtoons, Money Game and Pie Game. Throughout all eight episodes of the thriller series, audiences can find intriguing elements from both of these webtoons. As there is another sequel webtoon, Funny Game, set in the universe, there may be a second season.
