Begins ≠ Youth Ending Explained & Spoilers: Seo Ji-Hoon Time Travels Back to the Past

Episode 12 (finale) of Begins ≠ Youth aired on Xclusive on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. The episode shows how the lives of seven boys turn out due to their struggles. The episode sees Kim Do-Geon (Seo Young-Joo) become a school dropout. Meanwhile, Jeong Ho-Su (Ahn Ji-Ho) faces difficulty maintaining his positive attitude towards life and eventually gives up.

Begins ≠ Youth episode 12 further sees Kim Joo-An (Jung Woo-Jin) accidentally stabbing his father to death after he lashes out at him, his mother, and his sister. Then, Jeon Je-Ha (Jeon Jin-Seo) jumps off the tower at the seaside. However, the biggest highlight of the final episode of the BTS Universe-inspired K-drama is Kim Hwan (Seo Ji-Hoon) returning to the past through time travel.

Begins ≠ Youth ending: Seo Ji-Hoon returns to the past through time travel

Episode 12 (finale) of Begins ≠ Youth starts by showing Kim Do-Geon’s never-ending struggle due to his family’s poverty. Despite being intelligent, he has to drop out of school and keep working several jobs to provide for his family. Kim Do-Geon ends up getting into a road accident. Since he can not bear the pain of life anymore, he breaks down in tears in front of his mother.

The episode further shows Kim Joo-An’s struggle with his alcoholic father. After he has a meal with his mother and sister, his father also meets them. However, he soon starts to lash out at them. When Kim Joo-An tries to stop him, he even hits him fatally. Being unable to take it any longer, Joo-An tries to stop his father but ends up stabbing him fatally. The police arrest him after that.

In the meantime, Jeong Ho-Su thinks about taking care of Park Ha-Ru (Kim Yoon-Woo), who is at the psychiatric hospital, but he ends up getting beaten by some boys. After this, he fails to maintain a positive attitude towards life and questions if everything will be alright. Jeong Ho-Su then overdoses on pills and collapses. 

The episode shows what happens to Min Ce-In (Noh Jong-Hyun). After his father misunderstands him, he even loses his little hope. He decides to end his life in a similar way to his mother. He sets fire to his apartment and accepts death. Meanwhile, Jeon Je-Ha finds a notebook where various things related to all seven boys are written. He is confused by it. Through the notebook, he finds out about Min Ce-In’s death. In the end, he also decides to end his suffering by jumping off the tower at the seaside and leaving the notebook behind.

At the end of episode 12 (finale), the audience sees Kim Hwan going to the seaside tower to end his life. But somehow, he gets another chance, and time travels back to the past. It is at this time that he will meet the other six boys. Kim Hwan is now completely aware of what is about to happen to him in the future. The final episode ends with all seven boys enjoying their time at the seaside beach.
