Blood Free Episode 9 Recap & Spoilers: Han Hyo-Joo in Danger After Ju Ji-Hoon’s Absence

The popular K-drama Blood Free aired a brand new episode 9 on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 4 p.m. KST on Disney Plus. The episode began with a final showdown between BF Group CEO Yoon Ja-Yoo (Han Hyo-Joo) and Prime Minister Seon Woo-Jae. Just as her bodyguard, Woo Chae-Woon, headed to Dubai to find terrorist Kir, who was responsible for the Azoran bomb blast, Woo-Jae ordered a search and seizure of BF Group. This way, Woo-Jae could gain access to the cultured organs for himself.

Blood Free takes viewers on a futuristic journey centered around the biotechnology lab BF Group and its CEO, Yoon Ja-Yoo. They dominate the genetically engineered meat culture market. Ja-Yoo wishes to break the human-animal food chain through her technology and avoid animal slaughter. She also aims to create a dominant species using cell culture technology. However, when opposition from both inside and outside the company erupts, she hires soldier-turned-bodyguard Woo Chae-Woon (Ju Ji-Hoon).

Blood Free Episode 9: Han Hyo-Joo, Ju Ji-Hoon make their final plans

The latest Blood Free Episode 9 began with Woo Chae-Woon meeting Prime Minister Seon Woo-Jae’s mother. She revealed details about discovering how her ex-husband and DORSON Chairman, Seon Woo-Geun, looked up details about the explosive materials used in the Azoran bomb blast even before the blast had occurred. This only meant that Woo-Geun was the mastermind behind the incident. However, she claimed that although her son, Woo-Jae, knew about it, he was innocent.

Meanwhile, Woo-Jae requested his mother reveal Woo-Geun as the mastermind to Chae-Woon. The Prime Minister had a bigger plan in place. With this, he could seek revenge on his father, Woo-Geun. The latter arranged the bomb blast to harm his father-in-law and former President Lee Mun-Gyu. Planting Chae-Woon in this situation would help Woo-Jae avenge his maternal grandfather and take over BF Group.

After hearing that Woo-Geun was the mastermind, Lee Mun-Gyu’s health deteriorated. Woo-Jae visited his grandfather and got emotional over his declining health. Meanwhile, On San visited the late farmer’s wife, who jumped from the top of the building onto Ja-Yoo’s car. There, On San discovered that killer Park Sang-Min disguised himself as a pastor to convince the farmer to sacrifice his life. Sang-Min used disguises to kill Shin-Gu. He also killed bodyguard Ho-Seung and fled.

The same day, Chae-Woon visited the prison to visit the man who was wrongly arrested for the terror attack. After initial refusal, the man met Chae-Woon only to reveal that terrorist Kir was his cousin. While sharing a few drinks, the man gave Kir details about the army base where the bomb blast took place later. Instead of Kir and mastermind Woo-Geun, the imprisoned man was asked to surrender so that they wouldn’t harm his family.

Chae-Woon recorded all of it and promised to use it only when the man would allow him to. Back at BF Group, Jung Hae-Dun tried to escape after sensing danger to her life. However, Seo-Hui and Hong Sae-Ip managed to stop her, but she got severely injured while trying to escape. On the other hand, On San revealed himself to the media, announcing that Ja-Yoo wouldn’t experiment on herself but wanted to do good for people.

On San then visited Ja-Yoo and told her about Sang-Min’s disguise and how that led to the deaths of the farmer, Shin-Gu, and Ho-Seung. He revealed that Sang-Min’s real name was Ji Sun-Won, who had potentially altered his face. Meanwhile, Chae-Woon also arrived and explained how Woo-Geun was behind the Azoran bomb blast. They realized that planting Chae-Woon was Woo-Jae’s plan all along so that he could find more proof of his father, Woo-Geun.

Back at DORSON, Woo-Jae struck a deal with his father. If he manages to bring samples from Ja-Yoo’s lab, DORSON will have to make similar cultured organs. Woo-Geun promised his son to abide by the deal. Meanwhile, Ja-Yoo realized how she was suddenly invited to the meeting with Woo-Geun, as the one who had originally planned to attend fell sick. She decided to find the connection between DORSON, the bomb blast, and what happened at BF Group.

Ja-Yoo asked Chae-Woon to visit Dubai and find terrorist Kir. He asked her to promise him not to get the surgery on herself until he returned. After she gave her promise, Chae-Woon left. By the end of the episode, Ja-Yoo had ordered her manager to get the best transplant doctors in the country to meet her. On San realized nothing was going to stop Ja-Yoo from achieving her mission. She asked Seo-Hui to somehow use data to manufacture Hae-Dun’s voice.

At the end of the episode, Woo-Jae’s aides informed him that Chae-Woon had gone to Dubai. Moreover, his other aides successfully hacked into the BF Group. Now that his plan was in place, he ordered a search and seizure of BF Group and had them confiscate the technology.
