Flex X Cop Episode 5: Ahn Bo-Hyun leads Lee Kang-Hyun to discover a dangerous case

The latest Flex X Cop episode began with Jin Yi-Soo facing a vigorous attack from the first suspect of the painter, Noh Young-Jae’s murder. The latter’s assistant, Kwon Do-Jun, revealed that Young-Jae used his paintings to gain fame and even suspended his scholarship aboard, accusing him of plagiarism. When Yi-Soo offended him, Do-Jun stabbed himself. After he was taken in an ambulance, Lee Kang-Hyun arrived at the scene and reprimanded Yi-Soo for not informing her of his actions.

Meanwhile, the police chief disciplined Kang-Hyun for not caring for the chaebol heir, Yi-Soo. Moreover, her senior team leader for Team 2 advised her to transfer. Her father was his direct supervisor and was dismissed for taking a bribe. Kang-Hyun maintained that her father was innocent. The following day, she investigated Do-Jun when he confessed to stabbing him, but not strong enough that the painter would die.

In addition to his confession, Do-Jun revealed that he’d returned to check on Young-Jae but witnessed him dead, smeared with red paint. When Kang-Hyun asked about the scarf, Do-Jun said he’d bought it for Young-Jae’s wife, Joo Hwa-Young. The team narrowed the latter as a suspect. Meanwhile, Yi-Soo booked a VIP room for Do-Jun when he discovered from the assistant that Young-Jae always carried a key to his safe, which was missing when they found his body.

The following day, Yi-Soo informed Kang-Hyun of the same as they headed to work together. She met Hwa-Young, but the latter pretended to be completely unaware of everything. She called her boyfriend and headed to the bank to open the safe. However, Yi-Soo and Kang-Hyun caught them red-handed along with the team. Moreover, Yi-Soo also arranged for an exhibition at the same gallery for the painter’s student, who’d killed herself because of him.

At night, Yi-Soo met with his elder brother, who advised him to move closer to his house. But Yi-Soo declined the offer. Meanwhile, their father, Jin Myeong-Cheol, who was supposed to contest the Seoul Mayoral Elections, checked out his competitor Wang Jeong-Tae. He also heard about Yi-Soo arranging an exhibition for the girl. Meanwhile, Jeong-Tae spoke with a reporter to reveal details about Yi-Soo being an illegitimate son and the suspicious death of his mother. But he advised the reporter to put that information out three days before the voting date.

The following morning, the team set out for their next case. They found a dead body in a neighborhood. The man choked on a rice cake that blocked his airway. Kang-Hyun spoke to his granddaughter, who grieved his death. Meanwhile, the team investigated further. They found that nothing was stolen from the house. They ruled it as an accident.

At night, the granddaughter visited the police station and informed Yi-Soo that the seal of Korea was missing from their house. When he told the team, they laughed at him. He decided to prove them wrong and went to an expert. The latter explained that it was the National Seal of the Korean Empire. Moreover, the expert heard that only a man named Choi Sang-Soo had one of them. He ran a trading company in Japan and passed away long ago.

Meanwhile, Kang-Hyun discovered that three similar cases involving the rice cake had transpired in the neighborhood. Moreover, Team 2 was responsible for the first two cases, and they ruled it as an accident. When she asked her senior to hand over the files, he refused and got upset at her for doubting their investigation. She decided to investigate the families of the first two victims with the team.

While investigating, Kang-Hyun and Yi-Soo found that valuable items like gold, cash, and the seal had disappeared from the three victims’ houses. While leaving, they realized that all three prayed at Yeongseong Family Church. They went to the church’s office room, where the lady confessed to duplicating an account book stolen a few months ago. Someone erased the account book where the culprit targeted the three wealthiest individuals in the church.

Meanwhile, fellow team member Kang Sang-Jun discovered nicotine in the victims’ bodies transferred through an injection. Moreover, Yi-Soo found one of the victims charged with three accounts of robbery. One of the houses was Choi Sang-Soo’s, who was rumored to have the seal.

The youngest team member, Kim Shin-Bi, brought the CCTV videos, from which the team narrowed down two suspects – Park Jae-Geun and Go Young-Bum. They pretended to be photographers taking the victims’ funeral photos in their houses.
