Flex X Cop Episode 3: Ahn Bo-Hyun & Park Ji-Hyun successfully crack their first case together

Flex X Cop Episode 3 picked up where the previous episode left off. Both Jin Yi-Soo and Park Ji-Hyun collaborated to catch the first suspect in the case. The case was that of model Jung Ina’s murder. The first suspect turned out to be DN Group’s youngest heir, Cheon Tae-Sung, who visited the model on the night of her murder.

However, he claimed that it was his elder brother and DN Group Chairman Cheon Bang-Jo’s second son Cheon Tae-Young. The latter also arrived at the police station. While the two brothers engaged in a scuffle, the rest of the family subsequently arrived one by one. Cheon Tae-Jun, DN Group’s eldest son also arrived.

Other family members who followed included Cheon Bang-Jo’s second wife Lee Su-Min and then his first wife Choi Hyeon-Ju. The family continued to battle with each other over the case when the team arrested both Tae-Sung and Tae-Young on suspicion of murder and possession of drugs respectively.

After referring to statements from both brothers, the team continued to investigate. Their focal point was to find out where Jung Ina was murdered. Meanwhile, Yi-Soo noted that he’d seen a scratch on the boat (where they discovered Jung Ina) while moving around the restricted area. The team quickly posited that the murder may have happened in another boat. The scratch may have occurred while shifting her from one to the other.

As Yi-Soo suspected, the team found the scratch on the boat. At night when Yi-Soo was home, he got into an argument with his step-mother. She asked him to move out as his father had disowned him. After the argument, Yi-Soo asked his assistant Mr. Choi to find out more about DN Group. Meanwhile, the next day, Kang-Hyun found from the model’s phone records that Jung Ina had met Cheon Tae-Jun.

The team discovered that Tae-Jun had a yacht that he hadn’t used in a long time. He also revealed that Jung Ina met his mother Choi Hyeon-Ju. When they met her, her assistant called her for a meeting. The team then investigated the restaurant when Tae-Jun last met Jung Ina. The waiter revealed that the two had a brief discussion, following which Tae-Jun left. Jung Ina entered the restaurant once again only to leave soon.

Meanwhile, Yi-Soo went to the hospital after Mr. Choi provided him with adequate information. He saw Cheon Bang-Jo admitted to a VIP ward. The team, on the other hand, discovered that Jung Ina’s mother was Bang-Jo’s secretary. Yi-Soo entered the office and revealed that the Chairman has cancer and the sons are fighting for inheritance.

Kang-Hyun concluded that Jung Ina was Bang-Jo’s illegitimate child and the model wanted a sample for a paternity test. This was why she met with Tae-Jung and re-entered the restaurant to take the DNA sample from his wine glass. The team decided to investigate Tae-Jun’s supposedly unused yacht. But Kang-Hyun was denied a warrant for the same. So Yi-Soo used his privilege to enter the yacht, while she waited outside.

Yi-Soo found bloodstains that had Park Jong-Wook’s footprints. It turned out that he was Choi Hyeon-Ju’s assistant (the one who previously called her into a meeting). The team soon discovered that both of them were attempting to leave the country. Yi-Soo arranged for his private helicopter and took Kang-Hyun with him. The two caught the culprits and arrested them for Jung Ina’s murder.

Choi Hyeon-Ju confessed to killing Jung Ina. Meanwhile, outside the investigation room, Yi-Soo met with Tae-Jun, who pretended to worry about his mother. But Yi-Soo sensed something wrong and went to the Chairman’s second wife Lee Su-Min. He discovered a secret recording which had Tae-Jun ask his mother to take the blame and order to kill Jung Ina. The team arrested Tae-Jun. Moreover, Kang-Hyun recognized Yi-Soo’s efforts.

Kang-Hyun, however, was visibly upset about not winning her bet with Yi-Soo and capturing the real culprit. Yi-Soo, meanwhile, had a conversation with his half-brother Jin Seung-Ju about being the illegitimate son in the family. The two brothers bonded over their mutual fondness, while their father Jin Myung-Chul called Yi-Soo “unreliable” and of no use in his election strategies.

By the end of the episode, Yi-Soo received a VIP invitation to “Noh Young-Jae’s private exhibition – Invitation to the Death.” As he visited the exhibition, Yi-Soo witnessed another murder and asked the painter’s assistant to lock the door as the murderer was inside the venue. In a bonus clip, he asked Kang-Hyun to arrive at the venue as he’d preserved the crime scene.
