Rowoon’s The Matchmakers Episode 13 Recap & Spoilers: 2 Deaths & a Heartbreak

Starring Rowoon and Cho Yi-Hyun, The Matchmakers episode 13 aired on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, on KBS. With the K-drama nearing its end, the storyline has taken an interesting turn in the latest episode.

In the episode 12 ending, viewers saw Cho Yi-Hyun’s Soon-Deok saving Sim Jung-Woo (Rowoon) from being killed. The two shared their first kiss and confessed that they could never forget each other.

The Matchmakers episode 13 shows Park So-Hyun (Park Ji-Young) locking up her daughter-in-law, Soon-Deok, in her room. She warns Jung-Woo not to meet her and also plans the death of her husband and her brother.

The Matchmakers episode 13 ending: Rowoon breaks up with Cho Yi-Hyun

The Matchmakers episode 13 begins with the arrests of the Left State Minister Jo Young-Bae and the Defense Minister Park Bok-Ki. The King and Jung-Woo (Rowoon) put them behind bars, as they decide to sending them to exile.

Jung-Woo didn’t want the Left State Minister’s family to suffer the punishment of treason, which is why he convinced the king to charge him only for his eldest daughter-in-law’s murder. Meanwhile, So-Hyun makes her move to save her family’s name. She cunningly gets Soon-Deok involved and takes advantage of Jung-Woo’s feelings for Cho Yi-Hyun’s character. At this point, So-Hyun ends up killing Young-Bae and Bok-Ki.

She presents to the king a forged suicide note and the will on behalf of her husband. So-Hyun also lets Soon-Deok become matchmaker Joo-Daek in order to process her daughter’s wedding at the same time as the three maidens. In the meantime, Soon-Deok sends love notes to Jung-Woo every other day but doesn’t receive a response. She even goes to meet him, leaving Jung-Woo worried about her.

At the end of The Matchmakers episode 13, the lovebirds meet again. She tells Jung-Woo that she was getting restless as he was not replying to her love letters. With a serious face, he says, “I came to tell you not to send me any more letters.” Jung-Woo adds, “As you said before, my feelings have calmed down. I do not love you anymore.”

In an earlier scene, So-Hyun warned Jung-Woo to stop meeting her daughter-in-law. If he continues to meet her, then So-Hyun will have to take action. A former matchmaker also told Jung-Woo that Soon-Deok would be in danger if the couple stayed together.
