The Matchmakers Episode 12 Recap: Did Cho Yi-Hyun Save Rowoon From Killers?

Starring Rowoon and Cho Yi-Hyun, The Matchmakers episode 12 was aired on Monday on KBS. This latest episode of the period romance comedy K-drama showed the lead characters accepting their feelings towards each other.

In the previous episode, viewers saw Rowoon’s Sim Jung-Woo and Cho Yi-Hyun’s Soon-Deok (aka Yeo Joo-Daek) learning the truth about an old murder case. The Left State Minister and the Defense Minister find out that Jung-Woo knows that the former killed his eldest son eight years ago.

Hence, the two plot to kill the Prince of Gyeongwoonjae in episode 12. When Soon-Deok learns about her father-in-law’s plans, she rushes to Jung-Woo’s house. The lead characters hide when the killers arrive. 

The Matchmakers Episode 12 spoilers: Cho Yi-Hyun reveals the truth to her mother-in-law

The Matchmakers Episode 12 was a rollercoaster of emotions for its viewers. It begins with Cho Yi-Hyun’s Joo-Daek asking Jung-Woo (Rowoon) about his late wife. Jung-Woo was married to the princess.

He tells Joo-Daek that the rumors of him being forced to marry her are false. He had a love-at-first-sight experience with his late wife. Listening to his story, Joo-Daek’s feelings grew stronger for Jung-Woo. The latter asked Joo-Daek about her family but then stopped her from answering. 

Meanwhile, Soon-Deok’s mother-in-law Park So-Hyun (Park Ji-Young) is heartbroken. She wants to know who killed her eldest son eight years ago. Soon-Deok feels pity and reveals her truth to So-Hyun. She tells her mother-in-law that she is the matchmaker Joo-Daek and knows that So-Hyun’s husband killed the eldest son. While So-Hyun is grateful to Soon-Deok for the revelation, she also warns her daughter-in-law to not set foot outside the house.

In The Matchmakers Episode 12, Jung-Woo informs the King that the Left State Minister is involved in the Crown Prince’s abduction. While leaving the palace, Jung-Woo encounters the Left State Minister’s wife and his daughter-in-law, Soon-Deok. Jung-Woo is speechless as he finds out Joo-Daek is Soon-Deok. He now worries that the King may punish the entire family of the Left State Minister.

The Matchmakers Episode 12 ending: Rowoon, Cho Yi-Hyun share their first kiss

The Matchmakers Episode 12’s ending was nerve-wracking. The Defense Minister Park Bok-Ki informs the Left State Minister Jo Young-Bae that Rowoon’s Jung-Woo knows about the murder case. They plan to kill him.

When Soon-Deok serves snacks and drinks to her father-in-law and Bok-Ki, she notices swords. In the kitchen, the worried Soon-Deok tells her maid that she is suspicious. The maid then reveals that Young-Bae is planning to get rid of the Prince of Gyeongwoonjae. Soon-Deok runs to Jung-Woo’s house and informs him. 

Bok-Ki, along with another person, barges into Jung-Woo’s house to kill him. They search for him but fail to find him. As they come closer to Jung-Woo and Soon-Deok, Bok-Ki gets distracted. He discovers Jung-Woo’s case map of the eight-year-old murder. The killers leave in fear.

Jung-Woo and Soon-Deok come out of their hiding place. He asks her why she came in her original form and not as Joo-Daek. Soon-Deok replies, “Who cares if someone sees me? I could not think about anything else when I realized you might die, Your Excellency.” He then hugs her to calm her down.

Soon-Deok confesses that she thought she could move on but, she could not forget him. Jung-Woo says that he realized it the first time he met her that she was unforgettable. She looks at Jung-Woo, grabs him, and kisses him. The Matchmakers Episode 12 ends with a beautiful heart-fluttering moment as the two young widowed matchmakers share their first kiss.
