Daily Dose of Sunshine dives into the world of psychiatry through Park Bo-young’s character

Titled Daily Dose of Sunshine, Netflix is adding another South Korean drama series on its platform next month. The show will see Park Bo-young as Jung Da-eun, a nurse who is transferred from internal medicine to the mental health department at Myung Shin University Hospital. Unfazed by the changes in her personal and professional life, she is determined to help psychiatric patients.

The teaser begins with head nurse Song Hyo-shin giving a tour of the ward to Da-eun on her first day at her job. She explains,

“Unlike other wards, the psychiatric ward does not even have curtains, so our mornings start earlier than in other wards.”

The clip further shows Da-eun’s interaction with psychiatric patients with unique personalities. However, after she is transferred to a new department, Da-eun states that the protocols are “alien” to her. She appears kind and generous to her patients and tries her best to make a connection with them, remarking,

“I feel bad that only good people seem to come here.”

Meanwhile, Dong Go-yun (Yeon Woo-jin), a proctologist with a quirky personality, shows interest in Da-eun as he is seen admiring her actions in the teaser.

As the teaser of Daily Dose of Sunshine progresses, viewers see the struggles Da-eun faces at her job as she becomes physically and mentally drained while treating the mental health patients. At times, she feels helpless and says, “I am not sure what I should be doing to help them get better.”  Hyo-shin then wisely remarks that “the darkest of nights cannot go on forever. Soon enough, morning light will shine.”

The series is thus expected to show the struggles of the psychiatry department and the stories of its patients. Netflix also released a poster of the K-drama, which sees the Concrete Utopia actress smiling in orange scrubs.

The official synopsis of Daily Dose of Sunshine reads:

“Determined to provide a ray of light for those under her care, a young nurse navigates the world of mental health and the diverse stories surrounding it.”

Directed by Lee Jae-kyu, the series is based on the Kakao webtoon of the same name by Lee Ra-ha. The series will have a total of 12 episodes and exclusively air on Netflix on November 3.
