Why Is Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 Delayed?

After almost three decades, Kamal Haasan is reprising the role of Senapathy for the second installment in the Indian film franchise. The upcoming movie Indian 2 is the official sequel to the actor’s hit 1996 action drama. The movie has been in production for a while now and is undoubtedly one of the most awaited Tamil films of the year. Despite the rigorous efforts of the makers, the movie has faced several delays. According to a report by OTTplay, Indian 2 is facing a delay in its graphics work. The VFX work, which Lola Visual Effects is handling, is taking longer than the makers had anticipated. The company is carefully analyzing scenes before submitting them for the final cut. However, if things go as planned, the VFX work will be completed by the second week of May. The makers will seemingly take about a month to finalize the movie.

Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 release date

Indian 2 will hit the silver screens in June. The movie’s production announced the same via an Instagram post. The post read, “Gear up for the comeback of Senapathy! INDIAN 2 is all set to storm in cinemas this JUNE. Mark your calendar for the epic saga!”

The latest buzz is that the movie is expected to be released by the second week of June. An official announcement to clarify the date is awaited. Following its exclusive theatrical release, the movie will make its digital debut on the streaming giant Netflix. It will be available to watch in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. While the Indian 2 OTT release date is not announced, most movies arrive on the streaming service after four to eight weeks of its release in the theaters.

Apart from Haasan, several stars from different cinemas will be seen playing key roles in the movie. The cast includes Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, SJ Suryah, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Gulshan Grover, Vennela Kishore, Manobala, and more. S Shankar is directing the movie, while Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies are bankrolling it.
