On the occasion of superstar Rajinikanth‘s birthday, makers of the film unveiled the poster and teaser trailer for Lal Salaam.
Aishwarya Rajinikanth is directing the sports drama produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under the banner of Lyca Productions. The director shared the news via X (formerly Twitter). She wrote, “Mass machine and most magnetic magnificence of a man! Happy birthday, APPA ! Here’s my humble tribute on this day from #lycaproductions, @arrahman sir and us, a team of underdogs.”

Lal Salaam’s release date, cast and more
The worldwide release of Lal Salaam is scheduled for January 2024, coinciding with Pongal. The film stars Vishnu Vishal, Vikranth, Senthil, and Jeevitha in lead roles, alongside Rajinikanth in a special appearance. It will also reportedly feature legendary cricketer Kapil Dev in a cameo. Lal Salaam marks director Aishwaryaa’s return to feature film direction eight years after the project Vai Raja Vai (2015).
The recently released promo video sees Rajinikanth in an extended cameo as Moideen Bhai. The clip reveals two sides of his character, one performing violent stunts and the other believing in prayers, and he is more connected to peace and calmness. With a background score by A.R. The announcement for Lal Salaam and its final title took place in November 2022. Principal photography began in March 2023 and concluded in August 2023. Vishnu Rangasamy is handling the cinematography for the film, while B. Pravin Baaskar is responsible for the editing.
Actor Rajinikanth last appeared in director Nelson’s Jailer (2023), the biggest Tamil hit of the year, produced by Sun Pictures and released on August 9, 2023, collecting USD 77 million worldwide.
