Box office collection: Animal vs Sam Bahadur

Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur faces a strong opponent in the form of Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal. Despite the latter’s box office dominance, Sam Bahadur is demonstrating its holding. The film maintained its Tuesday’s collection at par with the Monday’s box office collection.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the movie amasses an estimated $0.41 million on its fifth day, bringing its total India collection to a whopping $3.9 million. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh notes that the film is “performing best at select metros,” highlighting its appeal in specific urban markets.

The journey of Sam Bahadur at the box office began on December 1, 2023, with an opening-day collection of $0.74 million. The weekend witnessed a substantial 44% surge, reaching $0.10 million on Saturday and soaring to $0.12 million on Sunday. However, the film faced a significant test on its first Monday. All in all, Meghna Gulzar’s directorial experienced a sharp 66.02% fall, with earnings dropping to $0.041 million.

While the film couldn’t match the meteoric rise of Animal, which inches closer to the $35 million mark domestically, Sam Bahadur maintains a solid position in the box office race.

Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal is roaring at the box office. The film has crossed the $29.9 million mark in India. Additionally, it has made $53.9 million globally. The film secures its position as Kapoor’s second-biggest hit, outpacing his previous big hits.

All in all, Animal is currently eyeing the status of one of the top five Indian blockbusters of the year.
