Full Moon to release uncut Jess Franco’s Marquise De Sade

Full Moon Entertainment is re-releasing Jess Franco’s insanely adult XXX feature Marquise De Sade (aka Doriana Grey or Die Marquise Von Sade) on DVD on October 24, digitally restored and remastered from Swiss producer Erwin C. Dietrich’s vault. This is yet another amazing, uncut release from the Dietrich-licensed “The Jess Franco Collection” from Full Moon, offering digitally remastered and feature-packed DVD’s available at a low price.

Miles away from Oscar Wilde, this is prime Franco at his most pornographic and obsessive, a partnership with his lover and muse (and eventual wife), the amazing Lina Romay. The film is a logical extension of signature Franco works like Female Vampire by way of Vampyros Lesbos, using Romay’s wide eyes and wide hips (as well as the strange beauty of co-star Monica Swinn) to create a portrait of a haunted, sexually-driven woman who is slave to her desires but also oddly imprisoned by them. It’s Romay’s best and most uninhibited performance and perhaps Franco’s most explicit and voyeuristic narrative film.

Here’s the synopsis: A lonely aristocrat Miss Gray has a twin sister who’s in an asylum. They share a strange bond. Miss Gray is rational but frigid while her sister is insane yet feels sexual pleasure for both of them. Soon, a female reporter arrives at the mansion – Miss Gray possesses vampire like qualities and lives alone when new reporter comes to do a story on her. It appears Doriana needs to suck the life out of various men and women – in a sexual way, in order to stay young. However, she gets no sexual feelings or pleasure out of it. Those ‘feelings’ go to her TWIN sister who is locked up in an asylum. There she goes through various sexual ‘violent and sexual fits’ whenever Doriana is pleasing and killing.
