Trapped in her apartment, Everly (Salma Hayek) is forced to fend off waves of assassins sent by her former lover – a dangerous Yakuza mob boss who wants her dead after he learns she is no longer loyal to him. Desperate to be re-united with her mother and young daughter, Everly must fight to kill her attackers before they destroy her and her family.

Starring Hayek, Everly may be contained in setting, but is quite far reaching in tone and influence. Lynch, who helmed horror sequel Wrong Turn 2 to great horror acclaim, puts his chops on full display in the story of one woman against a seemingly endless wave of assassins. With a simple setup, Lynch takes the brazen film (which premiered at this past September’s Fantastic Fest) to some weird places, including a totally nutso detour which should get horror fans going.
