UK Chiller The Borderlands is now Final Prayer; Hits February 2015

Elliot Goldner’s Final Prayer (aka The Borderlands) is a truly eerie affair, standing above the current glut of POV/found footage horror with a folk sensibility and killer sound design. Unfortunately the rural-set UK horror hasn’t had a chance to make much impact stateside, playing once in 2013 at L.A.’s Beyond Fest and seemingly not again, with little word. Since however, Lionsgate acquired the film for U.S. release,  changed its title and excitingly set it for February 2015.

The feature debut of Goldner, Final Prayer stars actor/filmmaker Robin Hill, of Ben Wheatley’s Down Terrace and editor of Kill List, Sightseers and this year’s excellent The Canal. Hill plays one of two Vatican investigators, who descend upon a remote church to demystify its strange happenings. Of course, what they discover is more disturbing than they had first imagined.

This trailer voiceover for Lionsgate’s VOD release is admittedly a bit cheese (I’ve attached the UK clip, as well), but the film is a creeper with great atmosphere, and comes highly recommended. Final Prayer is on VOD and Digital HD February 10, and DVD February 24.
