The talk about the future of Resident Evil has been growing for sometime. Not just with fans, but from the creators themselves. The last “Survival Horror” entry was Resident Evil Revelations (Leon’s RE6 portion not withstanding). Now that the cat is out of the bag concerning Resident Evil Revelations 2, the real question can be asked, what will the tone be?
It’s too early to know, but I have a theory. It would follow that this will be a direct sequel to the first Revelations game, but will it in fact also serve as a sequel to Resident Evil 6? With the desire to get the game back on track with its core fan-base, I believe that bringing the game around to the end of RE6 will can satisfy any lose ends and get the series back to feeling like a horror title rather than a war title with some creatures thrown in.
It will be a while still but I think that this and the re-release of the original Resident Evil are going to be the key factors in the future of the franchise. If you want your survival horror back, you have to let Capcom know you really want it.
The game is listed for preorder on Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One, and PS3.
