Producer Talks Found Footage Friday the 13th, Jason & More

The film is due to hit theaters March 13, 2015 and Crave Online caught up with Brad Fuller, one of the producers on the film representing Platinum Dunes, to talk about the 13th film in the long-running slasher series.  “It’s a matter of getting a script that we all love, that we feel like we can execute in a great way. That’s always the battle, isn’t it?,” he told Crave.

Fuller added that found footage is an angle they might use. “It’s something that we’re looking at, yeah. I never know because it depends on the story and what the story is. It’s been reported, that’s something that we’re looking into, but I can’t tell you definitively that that’s what the movie is.”

With the next film actually being the 13th installment, Fuller says that it will be a “a very daunting task.”

Will Derek Mears returns to play Jason? “I don’t know, because I don’t know if we’re going to have Jason, I don’t know which Jason we’re going to have. I can tell you this: I love Derek Mears, I love working with him and he’s a dream so we’d be lucky to have him,” said Fuller.

One thing concerns me beyond the “found footage” thing.  They don’t know which Jason they’re going to have?  Mind you, the film is going to be called Friday the 13th – again – which raises a red flag.  Are they going to start over?  There are so many ideas circulating in my head right now.  Are we going to see Jason in his youth and will this movie be a found footage account of his time at the camp?  Who knows…I’m overthinking it and I’ll stop.  We’ll just have to wait and see what transpires!
