Marvel Moving Faster on Doctor Strange Film

Conjured up for the big screen in 2013?

News of Marvel’s latest big screen effort broke at Twitch of all places.

It seems the film studio division of Marvel is moving along a bit faster on Doctor Strange. Twitch has learned writers Joshua Oppenheimer and Thomas Dean Donnelly – the duo behind this year’s Dylan Dog, Cowboys and Aliens and Conan the Barbarian – have turned in their draft of a script and Marvel is looking for directors.

Twitch emphasizes that the film is in development, so script tweaks could be made, new writers could be brought in, etc. before it moves forward. And right now, it’s looking like a 2013 release. That’s the year Thor 2 and Iron Man 3 are expected to strike.

A brief aside – since I don’t get to weigh in on comic book adaptations that much, and I am a fan – is anyone else getting increasingly concerned over the talent Marvel is tapping? Oppenheimer and Donnelly’s track record is shit, so I’m concerned about what they’ve done to Doc Strange. And Don Payne – who shared writing credit on Thor and also gave us Fantastic Four 2 – is flying solo on Thor 2. How much was he responsible for the stuff that worked about Thor? Because that Fantastic Four was crap.
