Ketchum’s Offspring Heads to the Screen

From the makers of Girl Next Door

It almost seems pointless to adapt Jack Ketchum’s survival horror novel Off Season. Films like The Hills Have Eyes, Wrong Turn and other copycats have mined the subject matter explored in Season to death. So, it’s bit surprising to learn Modernciné (The Girl Next Door) is going to adapt not Off Season but Offspring, Ketchum’s sequel originally published in 1991.

According to Dread Central, who learned of the news at Fantasia, Andrew van den Houten will produce and possibly direct. Shooting is expected to begin in three weeks. Much like Off Season, Offspring subjects a group of city folk to the dastardly needs of Maine back country cannibals. More details as they come in.
