EXCL: Director Provides I Scream Man Update

The slasher film starring Crispin Glover

Have plans for the Crispin Glover-starring The I Scream Man melted away? Not quite. The actor recently stated to the press that the long in-development project – that we introduced to you in-depth with director J.T. Mollner, co-writer Mikos Zavros and producer Nicholas Terry (details) – currently floats in limbo.

“We had a few road blocks last August in the middle of pre-production,” Mollner explains to Shock. “We basically were financed and ready to go….and then we weren’t. All I can say is, it had nothing to do with anything we as filmmakers did wrong, the company involved in financing ran into some financial troubles and froze funds, and then we were out on the street looking for a new home. Luckily, the majority of our cast – most importantly Crispin who is our star and title character – stayed loyal to the project. The majority of them have been very supportive, and believe in the script, and in our vision as filmmakers, so they have pledged to stay aboard as long as schedules permit.”

He adds there are two new additions to the “I Scream” team: “Executive Producer Rosanne Korenberg – who I had wanted to work with since seeing Hard Candy – and Andrew Herwitz of The Film Sales Company [are on board] to help us put the film back together and get it rolling again. All I can say is that now, 6 months later, we are back on track. The financing and studio process is very slow, so it may take a while longer, but we are in serious talks now, and I am confident that the film will be completed by the end of the year.”

In the interim, Mollner directed two shorts under his production banner NoRemake. One is, Sunday Evening, which was produced by Nicholas Terry, written by Mikos Zavros and myself, and starred Camilla Rantsen, is a graphic horror short that takes place in the same world as The I Scream Man. We had virtually no money for that but it still turned out well.” Mollner also recently wrapped another short entitled The Red Room which is “an exploration into relative morality, true love, and necrophilia of all things. We will be hitting the festival circuit with it soon and promoting The I Scream Man along the way which we are hoping rolls by this summer.”

We’ll keep you posted on more The I Scream Man updates as they come in!
