John Oliver’s character appeared in a recent episode of General Hospital, but his identity was kept under wraps. However, GH took to social media to announce that Oliver is playing Z. His character has been teased for quite a few months and was now marked by a dramatic entrance during a violent confrontational scene between Josslyn, Cullum, and Cassius.
General Hospital confirms John Oliver’s character is Z
General Hospital shared on Instagram a featurette starring Oliver, confirming his identity on the show. He plays Z, the head of the World Security Bureau (WSB). The behind-the-scenes video caption read, “‘Z’ has landed in Port Charles and John Oliver couldn’t be more excited to be here… but the jury’s still out on some of his higher concept storyline ideas. Tune in tomorrow to see how far we take it.”
In the first episode, he appears during a violent fight between Josslyn, Cullum, and Cassius on the docks of Spoon Island. He makes a grand entrance via a helicopter. Before his arrival, Cassius and Josslyn attempted their best not to let Cullum run away with a cold fusion weapon. However, when Cullum learns about the WSB leader’s arrival, his escape is canceled. Just a few minutes before, a violent fight breaks out, as Cullum’s men shoot Josslyn, whereas Cullum pulls the trigger on Cassius. However, Josslyn also doesn’t hold back and manages to shoot Cullum.
As Oliver enters the scene, he inspects the bloodshed and approaches Josslyn. As Josslyn struggles to remain conscious, Z assures her that everything will be okay and that he’s here to help. His appearance likely comes after the former agent Valentin Cassadine previously wanted to speak to the higher management about WSB Cullum’s corruption. So, he eventually went to the WSB headquarters in Geneva, likely to meet Z, despite being chased by law enforcement for escaping. It seems like the meeting that prompted this arrival happened. However, the meeting was never showcased on the show and might have happened off-screen.
