Viewers want to know where they can catch up on General Hospital episodes amid the ongoing YouTube TV and ABC dispute. For those unfamiliar, YouTube TV subscribers recently received an email explaining why ABC content is no longer available to stream. Since the network and the streaming service were unable to reach a “fair” agreement, YouTube TV has removed ABC programming from its library. Apologizing for the inconvenience, YouTube TV assured fans that they are working on negotiating with Disney. However, if they’re unable to resolve, subscribers will receive a credit.
Why General Hospital remains blacked out on YouTube TV
YouTube TV and ABC were unable to reach a “fair” deal by the renewal deadline, which resulted in ABC content being removed from the platform.
The email received by YouTube TV subscribers read, “Each time we renew our contracts with these partners, we advocate for fair pricing and greater flexibility to offer our subscribers the best possible live TV experience. Our current agreement with Disney has approached its renewal date, and we will not agree to terms that disadvantage our members while benefiting Disney’s own live TV products.” As both parties failed to close a deal by renewal, ABC content was removed, starting on October 30.
While YouTube TV understands that the sudden removal could be disruptive to viewers, they have assured that they are still trying to negotiate a fair deal with Disney to bring back the content. It further read, “We know it’s been disappointing to lose Disney content, and we want you to know we deeply appreciate your patience. In light of the disruption, we’re offering our subscribers a $20 credit.” (via Soap Opera Digest)
