Soap Opera Digest has confirmed the seasoned actor’s departure from the show. In the October 24, 2025, episode, Lois was seen emotionally bidding adieu to her daughter, Brook Lynn Quartermaine. The character has left town for Seoul, South Korea, to take over the position of tour manager for Blaze.
For the unaware, Sofer began her stint on the show in 1993. Her role received positive reviews from the audience. The actor decided to exit the show in 1996 as she was about to welcome her first daughter with then-husband Wally Kurth. However, she eventually had a brief return in 1997 to conclude Lois and Ned’s story. After a long wait, Sofer made a full-fledged comeback in 2023. Additionally, she and her husband, Sanford Bookstaver, moved to the East Coast full-time this year.
Speaking about her comeback on General Hospital, Sofer told Soap Opera Digest, “I’ve played a lot of characters in my career and Lois is probably one of the top three characters I’ve ever played in 37 years of being an actress.” She further added, “So to be able to go back and do it was unreal.”
Sofer also expressed gratitude toward her fans for waiting for her comeback. She said, “If they hadn’t spent the last 27 years constantly making little buzzing noises about Lois coming back or me coming back as Lois, I wouldn’t be in this position. It’s inspiring and I am forever grateful.” While the actor has left the show for now, there is room for Lois’s comeback in the future as she told Brook, “The second you need me, I will drop everything and come running.”
